Frequently Asked Questions

Have a question that's not answered on this page? Let us know!

What sets your bartending business apart?

We love making specialty drinks and creating cocktails to fit your special occasion. Bobbi, co-founder of B&B Bartending, is creative and enjoys developing and formulating "Signature Cocktails" just for you! To create your cocktail, she will ask you about the event and your drink preferences. She will even name your cocktail for you and promote it at your event.

How did you decide to get into this line of work?

As the quote says, "Do what you love and you'll never work a day in your life." We, the founders of B&B Bartending, decided to do just that. For over 20 years, we have been entertaining in our home together and we know what makes a successful party. We are passionate about creating a special event for our clients. We love what we do and it shows!

What will you bring to the event?

Our bartenders are fully equipped with all the supplies and tools you might expect, including pourers, garnish trays, shakers, strainers, and straws. We can bring everything to set up the bar or we will compliment what you already have. If your venue does not have a bar, we can bring a portable bar and back table.

What should I supply?

You, the host, will supply all alcohol, soda, mixers, ice, and garnishes. We can assist you in determining how much of each to have on hand. We will slice the fruit (lemons, limes, oranges, etc.) to be used as cocktail garnishes during the set-up period.

Do you do setup and cleanup?

Yes. We usually arrive 1 hour early to set up the bar. If you like, we will also stay for cleanup after the event.

What will the bartenders wear?

Our bartenders will wear black slacks, white shirts, black bow ties, and cummerbunds. However, we are happy to dress any way you request, including costumes for theme parties.

Are the bartenders licensed?

Yes, all our bartenders are professionally trained and certified. Bartender Training Schools are licensed in the state of MA but the bartenders themselves are certified, not licensed. Proof of certification is available upon request.

In addition, all of our bartenders are TIPS (Training for Intervention Procedures) trained and certified in the responsible service and consumption of Alcohol. TIPS certification is recognized in the states of Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Rhode Island.

Are you insured?
Yes. B&B Bartending carries Liquor Liability Insurance, which covers all of our bartenders. Insurance is particularly important for corporate events, fundraisers, and parties held at town facilities. Each municipality regulates and governs the service of alcohol differently. Most require bartenders to carry Liquor Liability insurance.

What food service do you provide?

While we are not professional caterers, we will come to your home to heat, plate, and serve your prepared or catered food. We will prepare garnishes to adorn your dinner or appetizer plates. Additionally, we will make sure your buffet table is filled while replenishing guest drinks. We will serve and clear dishes and do all the clean-up. We will do all the work, so that you can relax and enjoy your party!

How do you determine the cost of your service?

Our rates are determined by the hourly length of your event and the number of bartenders and servers you require. We do charge a minimal fee for travel. We do not charge extra for the insurance we carry.

What advice do you have for customers when hiring a bartender?

Make sure you hire bartenders who are professionally trained and TIPS certified. They should also carry Liquor Liability Insurance. (At B&B Bartending, that is a given.) We recommend that you speak with the bartender who will be serving at your event to discuss the nuances of your party and to assess their personality style. You will want them to be “in sync” with your interests.
